Penguins

Non-human grief inducer, when dead

'The loss is unbearable', Morgan Freeman says of the mother when her baby dies in March of the Penguins. And yet she sort of does bear it, if you look closely. She just carries on as normal. What are we missing here?

My tolerance of the anthropomorphisation of Antarctic mammls to shore up some ropey moral about human family values has just died. The loss is unbearable.
